Important Trainings in October

There are important trainings happening in October. Make sure you sign up to renew your aerial lift training or learn more about being a shop steward!

If your aerial lift certification is about to expire, sign up for the aerial lift training on Saturday, October 29 from 7 am to 12 pm at the union hall. Please be sure to check the expiration date on your card and reserve a spot as soon as possible. Spaces are limited and spots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

For more information, call Billy Redmond at 617-901-5550.

As well, all shop stewards are invited to attend MBTU’s Construction Stewards’ Forum on Wednesday, October 19 from 5 pm to 8 pm via Zoom. Get great tips on how to be a steward from some of the best. This training will be led by Pat Walsh from Laborers Local 223.

To register, contact John Sweeney at jsweeneylocal534@gmail.com or contact Dan McNulty at dan@massbuildingtrades.org for more information.

Training the Next Generation

Local 534 was excited to debut our new VR training system to the next generation at the Girls in the Trades Conference and YouthBuild Boston. Both groups were able to try out the new VR system and get a feel for what it’s like on a real-life job site. The new VR system demonstrates first-hand how appealing joining our crafts can be as we work to recruit the next generation of plasterers and cement masons.

We’re revolutionizing how we train our apprentices and continue to deliver high-quality education. By mimicking natural work environments, pre-apprentices, apprentices, and journeypeople learn proper techniques before ever setting foot on a job.
